Want To Lose Weight This Year?
LEARN THE HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL LOSERS

The National Weight Control Registry has collected data on people who've lost a significant amount of weigh and kept it off.  Here are some of their secrets.

78% eat breakfast every day - This doesn't mead grabbing a donut on the way to work.  The successful dieters ate a healthy meal like an egg-white omelet and whole-wheat toast.  You want to start your day with a combination of complex carbohydrates (think whole grains and fruits) and protein.

62% watch less than 10 hours of TV per week

90% exercise about 1 hour per day - The Surgeon General, and the American College of Sports Medicine recommend that individuals get a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate activity (something that gets your heart rate up to a point of breathing heavily) on most days of the week (5 to 7).  Additionally at least 2 sessions of strength training should be included each week.

75% weigh themselves at least one a week - Keeping track of your progress either by weighing yourself or guiding based on how a particular pair of jeans fit will help you stay on track and make modifications to keep being successful after the occasional slip.

My husband would like to thank Jazzercise!  Since I have started attending classes I have lost 15 pounds & he thinks I look fabulous! Irene

Since starting Jazzercise, I have lost 50 lbs & I feel great.  Linda M.

This past year, my husband was battling cancer.  Jazzercise gave me the strength to care for him and carry on both physically and mentally.  Thankfully the cancer is gone, but I will definitely keep Jazzercising.  Marilyn

On a recent visit to old friends out of town, I received many compliments on how great I look!  I told them it was thanks to Jazzercise.  Kyra

Do you ever think Jazzercise is not for you?  Well read on!

I am a mom of  triplets. Lots of fun. Lots of stress. When the girls were young they used to cross their legs when they sneezed. You moms know why, in 1994 along with the wonderful babies came that blasted leaking problem.  Before having the babies I had been a runner but with this particular problem I had to give that up. I also felt that for the same reason Jazzercise was out of the question.

Here are the other reasons I thought I could never join Jazzercise:

  1. I have had surgery for arthritis on my big toe joint and it's not very flexible now.
  2. Years ago I was thrown from a horse so hard that I have a bit of  nerve damage in one thigh and I can't lift it very high.
  3. I have a permanently dislocated collar bone and probably can't do half the exercises because the collar bone can still shift and that  hurts.
  4. I have a cervical spine that is so cranky that my insurance company won't cover injuries to that area.
  5. I'm am a klutz.
  6. I am and always have been shy. I'm over 50 now and don't care to change.

Here are the reasons why Jazzercise would be good for me:

  1. I am now pre-diabetic.
  2. I am 30 lb overweight.
  3. With diet and exercise I can avoid becoming diabetic and requiring insulin.
  4. I want to be an example for my triplet daughters.

What I have discovered since I joined Jazzercise:

  1. Jazzercise is helping my 'leaky' problem. AND I don't have to cross my legs anymore  when I sneeze!
  2. I don't have to jump just because everyone else does. I can do low impact and still get a great workout. My foot is very happy and my slow leg is learning to catch up.
  3. The Instructors show us multiple examples of how to do a movement which includes modifications for my collar bone and neck but  I am never singled out in class.
  4. No one cares if I don't get all the steps right.
  5. The class sometimes is asked to find a new spot. I march in a circle, wave at a few people and go right back to my  comfortable spot in the very back of the class. No one points out  that I didn't move.
  6. I have lost 6 lbs and my blood sugar has dropped 15 points!
  7. I find myself humming the music during the day and looking forward to the next workout.

So, get down there and give Jazzercise a try. Tell them Mary, mother of triplets, recommended Jazzercise and maybe I'll get a discount. But more importantly you will get healthier!    Mary H.
